So far, I’ve shared my personal goals and my business goals for 2017. I’ve shared my routine and my plan to ‘stay on track’ with those goals. So now, the question is…how do we stay on track when we’re surrounded by temptation and ‘naysayers?’ How do we prevail with so many obstacles?!?!?!
If I would have listened to all the ‘naysayers’, BELLE VIE would NOT exist today! They said 9/10 bridal boutiques do not survive after 2 years, so I’m very humbled and proud to say BELLE VIE is 12 YEARS STRONG. We all have multiple naysayers throughout our journey. When I became a mom, and tried to blend the two, many said it could not be done. To that, I proudly say that both my kids have grown up in BELLE VIE and are better people for being surrounded by all the smart and beautiful brides we’ve been honored to help walk down the aisle♥
We’ve all experienced times when we felt the walls closing in around us. Times when everything seems unbearable. What do we need to do during those times?? I say, ‘stay the course’!! And trust me, I know it’s not easy. In fact, climbing a mountain when you’re ‘down and out’ is incredibly difficult. It takes stamina…mental strength…the will to keep going. All I know is that when things are tough, you MUST get up and do it again. And again. And again! Regardless of how I feel, or what bombs are going off around me, I get out of bed.
The one thing I can count on when things are ‘sticky’ is routine. Routine moves you forward –even when you can’t. Unless you are sick, get out of bed, and get to work! One day at a time. Don’t think about how big the mountain is you’re climbing, just focus on putting one foot in front of the other. I stayed the course. When the ‘naysayers’ could’ve brought me down, I stayed the course. I know you can all relate to this!! So, I invite you to JOIN ME in ‘staying the course’ and to NOT give up. It’s the small things you do daily that ‘move mountains’.
I try to follow three simple rules to shield myself from distraction or negativity.
1. First, surround yourself with people who inspire you.
When you’re inspired, you’re energized, you’re motivated. Positive energy exudes positive energy. Negative energy exudes negative energy. Commit to making time (MONTHLY) to spend with those who inspire you and motivate you. Dedicate time to share with someone who share your goals…someone who shares your wellness goal, your spiritual goal, your career goal, etc. I make it a priority to be around people who make me want to be the best version of myself, because in the end, I’m going to be that person for someone else –and thats all that matters. Whether my goals are physical, emotional, spiritual, or career-oriented, I find someone to help guard me from negative forces and any naysayers along the way.
2. Secondly, make a list of all the challenges you think will prevent you from hitting your goals, and label it “WHY I CAN’T ACHIEVE MY GOALS.”
Now rip off that title and re-title it “THE REASONS WHY I MUST ACHIEVE MY GOALS.” Make those obstacles, the reason why you must achieve your goals. I let those challenges and all the naysayers be the driving force behind my momentum. I prove to myself that what I don’t give up on, I will eventually achieve. And you will too!
3. Lastly, hold yourself accountable for the daily activity you need to do to reach your goals.
Make charts or lists that track how much you’ve accomplished DAILY/WEEKLY (so you can see that you are one step closer to your goal). Give yourself small rewards to work towards as you get closer to reaching that ultimate goal. Because guess what?!? You can’t be 100% all the time! We are human! So live by the 80/20 rule…(yes, next week I can tell you more about that! My MO!)
